Uncoiler Brake Project:
Uncoiler Data:
Web tension is the primary value that determines the required braking power. The default value is based on 500 psi multiplied by the product thickness. User specific values will depend on the alloy and other process parameters.
Change over time defines the idle period during which the disc can cool off. The default value is based on a two coil system where one coil is in process while the second one is loaded and waiting to run. In single coil systems, enter the length of time to load a new coil.

Brake & Disc Selection:
Search Filter

'Minimize equipment cost' will limit offering to braking systems which will perform the task without any regard to pad or disc life.

'Balance cost & performance' will select the middle one third from all permissible combinations

'Maximize performance' will present brake systems that will maximize pad life and minimize disc temperature but may be too large for the application.

Specifying caliper brakes gives the option to select seperate discs and brakes.

Specifying tension brakes will select a single enclosed disc brake. Fan cooled modules can be specified in the disc dropdown.

Grade 'G' will produce the highest torque whereas grades 'E' and 'C' will produce the best results in tension applications.
